If a person is born in Latvia, but his parents are not Latvians, his passport will indicate "ALIEN", for "foreigner".

In Latvia they celebrate names. Name days are celebrated like birthdays. Name days in Latvia are a precious tradition. There is a lot of joy associated with it and remembering it is a nice gesture.

Latvians offer flowers in odd numbers because the even number is reserved for the deceased.

Look around and look up. According to a study, Latvian women are the tallest in the world, with an average height of 1.70 m. No wonder the country has one of the highest concentrations of models on the planet!


The central market of Riga, one of the largest in Europe, is located in the Zeppelin hangars of the First World War.

With over 800 Art Nouveau buildings, Riga has the highest concentration of Art Nouveau architecture in the world.
